Scottish Government Licensing of Self-catering accommodation.
Since opening The Library and The Lodge we have always complied with all relevant health and safety requirements. We applied to Highland Council for the new Licence to operate in August this year. As yet we are still to hear whether the Licence has been granted.
We believed it was too much of a risk to ask prospective guests to place bookings without the Licence being secured. Failure to be awarded a license would mean that bookings have to be cancelled and refunds given. Whilst that might be a very small risk, we wouldn’t want to disappoint anyone. We understand how important holidays on our beautiful Isle of Skye are to our visitors.
As soon as we are granted a Licence we will open up again for bookings. So, if you like the look of us here at Strathaird House keep checking back. We hope to be able to give you a warm welcome in 2024.

Skye Time
A place where time stands still.
Strathaird can feel like a place where time stands still. Let it! Give yourself the space to slow down, unwind and switch off from the trials of life in the modern world. Allow the unique atmosphere of the Isle of Skye to refresh your body and soul. There’s no rush. Take time to discover the joy of simple things – the eagles on the wing and the otters in the loch. Reflect on the beauty in the ever-changing sea, sky and hills, fill your lungs with the fresh clean air and absorb the sound of silence.

and Cuillin mountains.
The spectacular scenery on the Isle of Skye ranges from grand mountains to lovely sea lochs. Famous sights are as varied as the Fairy Pools and dinosaur footprints. Off the beaten track the dramatic wilderness landscapes have formed a backdrop to many films. Not far from Strathaird House is a path taking you into the heart of the Cuillin Mountains and a bit further on finds the village of Elgol where a short boat trip takes you to stunning Loch Coruisk nestled at the foot of the dramatic Black Cuillin.
